Archer, Ten Months

On the Sunday that just passed (the 5th), my little Archer bean turned 10 months old. 10 whole months. That’s just two months shy of one year old. 10 months earthside, longer than the time he spent in my belly.

This past month Archer has pulled himself into a standing position and gained more control of his switches from belly to bum and vice versa. I’m a little surprised to say that he hasn’t started crawling yet (even though he totally gets into a crawling stance on the daily). He does try to climb up the stairs and up Nolan’s little Thomas desk, so that’s been fun. He no longer just sits still, he’s non-stop go-go-GO. He also loves to lick like everything. People’s feet. The floor. The stove and refrigerator. The screen door. He sort of just army crawls around with his tongue out. It’s quite humorous, and also kind of gross.

Archer still only has 6 teeth (with more coming, I’m sure…he’s teething again). He’s still breastfeeding although I think we’re in the early stages of weaning. He drinks a bottle or so of whole milk each day, and he eats breakfast, lunch and dinner. He loves toast with cream cheese, cherrios, yogurt, cheese, spaghetti, watermelon, strawberries, bananas, sweet potatoes, peas, broccoli and carrots. He’ll pretty much eat anything we put in front of him, unless it’s super sour.

He’s overly interested in sippy cups and knows how to drink from them. You have to be quick in learning things like that, especially when big brother Nolan has the best drinks in his sippy cups. Archer has learned to drink fast, but he always gets caught…much to his dismay. (And every time I catch him, I can hear Stewie’s voice saying “DAMN YOU, VILE WOMAN!“).

Archer still, at 10 months, isn’t sleeping through the night consistently. He loves to use me as a human pacifier and sleep times are quite the struggle for the both of us. Hopefully we’ll get the hang of that soon. Did I mention that he has the saddest sad face ever? Oh yeah. And he knows how to use his sad powers against Mommy to get whatever he wants…

Archer’s favourite activities consist of pulling himself up against the coffee table and then shoving everything off it, attacking his brother for Mr. Potato Head pieces, holding onto fingers so he can just stand, and dancing. Oh this boy loves to dance! He shakes his booty and taps his feet like no tomorrow. It’s adorable and I hope it doesn’t stop, ever. He’s stubborn and he’s curious and he’s the biggest cuddler. When he wants cuddles, he’ll army-crawl up to me, grab at my legs and screech at me until I pick him up. Then he’ll bury his head in my shoulder and snuggle with my arm. It’s adorable. He does it to everyone else too, but I get lots of special cuddles — probably to make up for the horrible sleep I get each night.

He had his well baby check up on Tuesday, and he’s doing great. He weighs 17 pounds right now…which is pretty porky. Yay for my breastmilk! Despite being frustrated (and fed up) with being a human pacifier, I’m very proud of my boobs for nourishing this little monkey.

I can’t believe my little bean is another month old!

Happy Monthday baby, sorry this post is a little late…Mommy had a lot of boobie complaining to do over the past few days. 😉

  1. I love that you apologize to him on your blog for being “late” with the post. When he gets old enough to understand why you posted it late he’ll go “MOOOOOM I DON’T WANNA KNOW ABOUT YOUR BOOBIE PROBLEMS! GROOOOSSSSS”

  3. Wow just two months until he turns 1! The sleeping will improve…it was right around 10 months that Landon slept through for the FIRST TIME EVER. What a good little eater Archer is!
