Damaged Goods is releasing in eight weeks.
I feel like I finished this novel forever ago. And I sort of did. I completed it in 2014, and it’s been waiting patiently for attention while I re-released my first two novels (Collide and Consumed).
There’s a lot that I could say about this novel, about how terrifying and exciting it is to think about how it will soon be available for consumption (because most of the people I know don’t just “read” novels, they consume them. Devour them).
The Damaged series isn’t like the Collide series. Harlow and Everly are two incredibly different characters. Everly is soft, naive, and not at all like our ass-kicking, name-taking Harlow Jones. I wanted to write a character that encompassed what it was like to be infatuated at seventeen.
Damaged Goods is the first book in the series. It’s full of angst, of falling in love, of social issues and characters desperately struggling to find themselves in a world that doesn’t always make sense. In January the sequel, Reckless Abandon, will release. That’s where the answers are.
I don’t write romance like it’s typically written. I do that for a reason. I give the characters time to stretch their wings and develop, because that’s what happens in your early adulthood. You’re still stretching your wings, still coming to terms with what you want and who you are. It doesn’t make sense to me, especially with a book like Damaged Goods, to pair off the couples indefinitely.
But falling in love is the fun part. That unsettling, all enveloping desire to be with someone, to know them. I love moments that take your breath away. I love moments that make your stomach plummet like you’re on a roller coaster. I love having my heart squished in the palms of an authors hands. I love the feeling when they repair it, too. I love the hope, I love the forgiveness.
I am seriously in love with this story, with Grayson and Everly and their heartbreak and their love, and I can’t wait for release day.

I’m so excited for you. I love the Collide series, but I really fell in love with the Damaged series. Everly and Grayson’s story is one of my favorite love stories.
