Stubbornness is a great quality to have, in my humble opinion. Stubborn people don’t give up easily, they fight for the things that they want–and they fight against the things that they don’t want, which makes dealing with stubborn people a little challenging at times.
I have healthy doses of stubbornness in me. I work hard to achieve my goals and I won’t let someone tell me I can’t do something that I want to do, but I also know when to heed the advice of others, especially when that advice could potentially help me reach my goals.
It doesn’t hurt to listen to someone who knows what they’re talking about.
Yeah, admitting that someone else has more knowledge in a particular subject can be difficult for a bullheaded person, but ultimately…your stubbornness shouldn’t hold you back from learning and growing.
Mine doesn’t hold me back, at least…not anymore. Maybe in the past it did, when I refused to be open to any ideas but my own. Now though? I’ve learned that change is good, growth is good. Nobody stays in one place forever, you have to move forward. Sometimes, that’s mean letting someone else guide you in the right direction.
If you’re lucky enough to have a slue of people willing to lend you a hand and help you through the murky waters of change and personal growth, grasp that hand.
Sometimes, those closest to us can see the whole picture better than we can, especially if we’re holding on to our stubborn mindset. Sometimes, we can’t see how stuck we are.
And sometimes, we’re just too stubborn to admit we need help. That’s okay, just don’t be too stubborn to take help when it’s offered.
