This weekend was incredible. Freya Barker and her volunteers did a fantastic job hosting and running this event! I’m going to try and write a recap post, but honestly…I’m still in awe over this whole weekend! There are so many highlights and I met so many wonderful people.
Matt and I rolled into Niagara Falls around nine o’clock Friday night. We checked into our room and ran into Harlow Stone when we were walking back out to the car. We found parking, brought our bags up to our room, and grabbed a bite to eat at Milestones before we headed down to the hotel bar. We hung out with January and April, who were volunteering for the event. We were joined by January’s roommate, Tanya. Matt was pretty bagged after working all day and driving, so he went to bed early. I lasted a little longer, and I even got to give Ginger Scott a huge hug before! I’ve been a major Ginger Ninja since my friend Christina suggested her Falling Series to me and meeting her was incredible! She’s every bit as wonderful in person.
The next morning, I was starving but could scarcely eat. I was too excited! I met Jude Ouvrard while waiting for the elevator, and we ended up having breakfast together and chatting!
Soon, it was time to get ready and set up for the event. I was able to hit up a few author tables before things got hectic (in the best way possible, of course), and a few more throughout the event when I had quiet moments. I wish I’d had more time to go to every author’s table, but I still haven’t figured out a safe way of cloning myself. Plus, you know, that’s more Science than I can handle. 😉
And the readers…you guys! You were all so incredible, so sweet and warm and welcoming! It was very hard to be nervous in a room full of such awesome people! I absolutely adored the stories you shared with me, and getting to meet each and every one of you! I’m so glad we got to meet and/or see each other again!
And Cassandra, if you’re reading this…you better join FANnigans!
After a quick power nap, the fun continued straight through to dinner and the after party! The food was incredible, and the entertainment was on point too! Talented folks took the stage to do karaoke, and there was a photo booth that I may have hopped in a billion times.
And the dance floor! I haven’t danced that much since…wow, I don’t even remember. Probably high school! I’m definitely paying for it today (and yesterday, for that matter), but it was TOTALLY worth it and I’d do it again in a heartbeat!
Did I mention that some of the cast from Big Brother was staying at the same hotel as us? It made getting outside a little challenging at times, but hey. That’s an additional fun experience, selfie bombing Sindy with an S!
All in all, Matt and I both had a blast at this event and will definitely be attending it again in the future!
